Ursula van Wilgenburg is a self-taught artist, whose work explores the forces at play between structure and transformation. At the heart of her practice lies the question of how new clarity can emerge from contrasts, fractures and inner movement - and how change can be understood not as a loss, but as growth. The urge to create has accompanied her throughout her life. For many years her creative energy found expression in professional projects and her personal life, until she discovered painting as its most authentic and consistent form. She consciously chose to develop her own artistic path, independent of conventional academic traditions. Her artistic practice is defined by precision, perserverance and an uncompromising commitment to personal authenticity.

In her work, control and freedom, structure and dissolution exist in dynamic dialogue. Precisely defined lines meet fluid fields of colour, balanced compositions and experimental interventions. The result is a visual language that reveals both emotional and societal tensions - not through loud gestures, but with a quiet intensity that holds the viewer´s gaze. Her multilayered technique combines acrylic painting with experimental processes, meticulous surface refinement and subtle interventions that create depth, tension and fragile transitions. Through her distinctive visual language and authentic artistic voice, she encourages viewers to trust their own inner sense of order and to embrace change as an active, creative process.

Numerous works have found collectors and several solo exhibitions have attracted an engaged audience in recent years. Two further exhibitions in collaboration with art galleries are scheduled for 2026.

Born in 1959, Ursula van Wilgenburg lives and works near Nienburg/Weser in Estorf/Weser, in Lower Saxony, Germany.
